I also didn't know this, it is funny lol.
I was just concerned with puppy chow being mostly corn and not really defining any meat in its ingredient list and the results I seen with it it my other dog. I am sure the pro plan has a lot of meat and very little corn. I did get kinda caught up in the dog food advisor/dentist lol.

Nutro unfortunately has had horrible recalls over the past ten years. A lot of people have had problems with the food and have unfortunately moved on to bigger and better things. Here is some info - NUTRO Pet Food Recalls 2015 - Pet Food RecallPet Food Recall

I suggest reading this thread that I created. There are 70 posts full of information in regards to dog food and how to choose food. My journey on finding the correct food for my working dog. Dog Food Help - Fromm

I just looked at the at the recall but it hasn't had any since 2007 which is about 8 years so the must have stepped up their game. A lot of dog foods have had recalls. My moms dog got sick when Diamond dog food had their big recall. She was feeding the diamond naturals I believe.
The dog food was rated at dog food advisor by the dentist lol. I guess his credibility is shot now. I was thinking he was a nutritionist or at least a DVM.
I am going to check out your post now.

i just went and looked at your post and realized you was feeding your dog a food made by Diamond. They have had numerous recalls also and some were fairly recent. You may want to check on that.

I had to go back to read the whole thing. I was playing with my puppy. I believe he is the smartest dang dog I have ever seen and he is barely 8 weeks old.

I am taking the nutro back. Does anyone know if Petsmart will exchange it? I am going with the pro plan. I just don't want to chance it and since I havent opened it yet I assume they will. My moms almost died and ended up costing her over $1,000 in vet bills when Diamond had there food recall and she was never reimbursed by them. I would never forgive myself if something happened to this baby.

Feed what a reputable breeder would feed if you choose to rely on pet foods, in regards to a puppy. After the growth is complete personally, for better health I believe one should rotate between brands and feed a LOT of fresh foods.

Don't rely on *any* pet foods, they're all pre-packaged pet feed quality, not one of them is rated as human quality even though they may state it - it's all false advertisement.

Sources of ingredients that go into pet food are all questionable, some brands are better then others, but as a general - none of them are the top of the line.

However, there is nothing wrong with picking one or two brands of pet food, and then, after dog is done with major growth, there's nothing wrong with adding fresh meals in exchange for a few meals of dry food. Mixing it up prevents the dog from becoming picky too.

They took it back and I got the Pro Plan Focus Sport 30/20 all life stage. I got the Salmon and rice. I read that was good for the little puppies.

if they don't, you could donate it to the local SPCA or shelter.

I feed my two Fromm and they are both doing very well...beautiful coats, good weights, etc. I think the thing I like most about Fromm is it's never had a recall in the close to 100 years of operation. It's a really high quality food at an affordable price and they use American ingredients. It's a family owned company and all the food is made in Wisconsin.
