You're braver than I am. Do you have a Costco? You can get a big bottle of the capsules for cheaper than stores

I used to give Niner 3 in just his evening meal. Looks like Betty does 2 caps morning and night. Might want to start off slow. Maybe 1 cap in am and 1 in pm. After a week maybe increase?

Baked dry food is completely inferior to extruded dry food. Baked food is subject to great than 400 degree heat for close to 45 minutes while extruded food is subject to much lower heat, sometimes lower than 200 degrees, for just a few minutes.

You will notice that all the baked foods are low in protein, they need to be very high in starch or they will break apart.

Extruded foods can use much more protein. If baking was better than more companies would use it, but unfortunately it is more or less a marketing gimmick.

I saw a Lotus rep at a store once put the food in water and because it dissolves she claimed it was more digestible. I can think of a million things that dissolve in water but are completely inert and provide no nutrition.

This reminds me of the car wax trick on TV where they put alcohol on a car and light it on fire and claim the wax protected the paint. What they didn't tell you was that car paints burns at a much higher temperature than alcohol. Just optics.

I would pass on this food, also baked foods generate much more tartar than extruded foods because the high heat converts a lot of starch into sugar and the food slurry get all over the mouth.

I can see the appeal though "baked" is a much nicer word than "extruded".

I think you are wrong about the heat they use to make baked food and extruded foods. The baked food use much lower heat to make the food. Also I haven't noticed about low protein either. 24% protein isn't that low to me. If you want higher protein, you can get the puppy food which has 27% protein.

I don't think you understand the process of making baked dog food.

I am very sorry you feel that way Miss, but you are the one that does not understand the process. Starches don't turn to dextrins until over 400 degrees in regular atmospheric pressure. The baking process is 450 degrees for 45 minutes.

You proved my last point, that the word "baked" is a warm and fuzzy word that brings back memories of grammy making cookies, thus the commercial appeal.

perhaps you could back yourself with some sources. It's hard to trust information from someone who clearly struggles to infer the obvious.

Sorry about Miss, didn't mean to insult you. You look it up. I could easily ask you to prove that baked food is cooked at a lower temp than extruded food.

I also remember another thing about the rep that I found particularly distasteful was when she told me the food had 20 more cups in bag than an extruded food. I pointed out to her that was due to the fact that baked kibble is much lighter and filled with air pockets. She sort of frowned when I pointed that out.
