    Deer meat?

Today I was preparing some delicious deer meat Gyros that were amazing. Anyways, Rubble came in and I treated him to a raw piece that I had trimmed off as well as a few pieces that had been cooked and he LOVED it. Not that I thought he would spit it out in disgust. Does anyone feed deer meat regularly? I have a ton of deer meat in different variations but was wondering if it was safe to occasionally feed Rubble a deer steak, or use deer jerky as a treat instead of buying treats all the time.

I could take a few more deer during hunting season and feed Rubble all year lol........

I feed raw, and I love feeding deer meat. During hunting season I feed a ton of it, and right now I have a freezer full of various deer parts bone-in.

I feed it raw. If you are going to feed it raw, make sure you freeze it first for several weeks (I freeze it for a month) to get rid of parasites (wild deer, anyway). Also, make sure in your area there are no diseases such as Wasting Disease, which is like Mad Cow, if you are going to feed raw. I also don't feed them anything with spinal fluid because of the Wasting Disease. It does make my dogs fart a bit, but they love it and it is good for them.

I feed Charlie venison all the time. I cook it though, not raw. He loves it so much. He sits by the stove when it's cooking.

I grew up with my father hunting for Elk, our dogs back then ate it with gusto - just like we did. Don't have that benefit now though

Fred Bear has eaten deer meat since 2010, all the trimmings and cuts that wouldn't make good round steaks or hamburger go into bags and put in the freezer marked " labby snacks". He even loves to carry around a leg or two. " he will brag to whoever will listen"
If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.

CWD is only a problem for deer, elk and moose ie. cervids.
