The important point is that they got caught lying on their labels and in their sweet commercials and ads. The least the consumer can expect is truth in advertising and product labeling. Lying is the issue, not by products. Who knows what else they have done wrong? BB's excess vitamin D was poisoning one of my older Cavaliers, long before they admitted it. That sale bag was not worth it; I had too many vet bills. Since it was the only thing that had changed, I knew to take her off it. That was the last Blue I used. I also noted that folks using the brand had too many diarrhea issues in their pups. That is often a sign of off label formula changes or substitutions, as in a cheap brand.

To me it's the lying too. Named meat by-products are actually good, like cartilage is a natural source of glucosamine. A lot of the by-products is what dogs will eat naturally when eating raw too. But using that in marketing to say "other companies have it, we don't, so we re better" and then being caught using the same ingredients. Doesn't necessarily make the food bad (though I too agree too many come on here switching their pups over and the pups getting sick), but I won't trust the company.

It was kind of difficult to believe anything they advertised when you hear over and over how many dogs get sick when fed their food. I bet they won't do any high dollar, slick advertising and commercials admitting their lies but they should have to!

As a group, there is so much knowledge that the board members have. How in the world is the average dog owner to know when companies like these flat out lie?

That is a sad fact. The average dog owner seeing their slick commercials, prominent displays in pet/feed stores and the always lurking BB sales rep ready to pounce on any customer thought they were doing the best for their dogs and cats. It is sad but BB could care less. They knew what they were doing and unfortunately I bet the average pet owner will not know they have now admitted to lying. I would love to see Purina do an ad campaign to prove their point!
