D is related to calcium/bone loss. I don't think it can hurt, but the problems my older dogs have had, had nothing to do with bone loss. Mostly joint issues or muscle wasting.
Hi everybody,
A few days ago I met a professor specializes in bone, more specifically in osteoporosis, in human. This man is scientist and he's visiting lots of colleges around the world to give lectures.
I talked him about dogs He told me that vitamin D is very important for both human health and the dogs. He suggested me to give my dogs vitamin D everyday since they're getting old.
What do you think?

Yes, mine too. I'm giving them glucosamine supplements.
I agree. Plus, the reason most (human) adults are vitamin D deficient is that today’s lifestyles (as opposed to when the majority worked on farms outside) prevents many people from getting enough sunshine to stimulate the body to produce it’s own vitamin D. I spend a lot of time outside with my dogs, but they spend even more on their own (we have a dog door and they like to go out and sunbathe), so I would be doubtful they are truly deficient.

You can give them spirulina. It's rich in vitamin D and has other health benefits as well.

I'm catching up on a few issues of Dogs Naturally that I haven't read yet, and one of the articles was talking about the importance of Vitamin D for dogs, FWIW
