    Hello from Sophie and mom!

Hello, everyone, it has been several months since I have posted. We had a very busy summer full of boat riding and SWIMMIES!! Sophie is doing great. She has lost 4 POUNDS since July!!! Her vet was so excited!!!! She was 96 and now 92.. hopefully a few more will come off as we are diligent about her diet. Sophie turned 2 on Dec 2 and I have been fighting the urge for a new English lab from the same breeder and from the same mom and dad of Sophie. The breeder said something is brewing and to check back in January as they anticipate a litter around Feb or March with the same mom and dad. My husband wants a little yellow girl for Sophie. I do , too. Sophie is very sweet and loving and loves other dogs. I wonder how a new pup would be with her when she realizes she is to stay at our home. Sophie shares her meals with our Maine Coon cats with no problems. I am wondering if it may be different with a pup. I will talk to the breeder about introduction and how to acclimate this new baby who has yet to be born with our Sophie Girl. I would love all input! When I introduced my Maine Coons to each other, only the alpha or the oldest cat was upset that I brought Hoover, the youngest, home. He hisses and swats but overall, Hoover teases him. They both eat together and then they groom each other. It took a week of Hobie, the oldest, to tolerate Hoover. Our middle coon loved Hoover right away. Anyway.. all advice is appreciated!!

    Thanks,
    Sophie's mom

With my most recent 2, Emma was not happy about a puppy in the house when Maxx first came home. She would not even walk on the floor when we had them together in the den, she used the furniture to get from area to area, it was almost funny! Within a week she decided she liked him and she is NOT a fan of other dogs.

With Sophie being 2, I would think she would be just fine. I would definitely set up playdates with other dogs in the mean time to get her used to different dogs. Most of my Labs have been great at accepting new puppies or any dog for that matter. Maxx would love to bring every dog and person he meets home with him, lol!

    Good to see you back!

Great on the weight loss. I'm always regulating the amount that Mardi eats since she is so inactive. I have found that Fromm Whitefish is lower in calories and she tolerates it really well. In fact, she did not gain an ounce, actually lost a little, last winter on it. Just putting that out there for your info.

Great job ! 4 pounds is close to 5% of Sophia's body weight ! that would be like a 150 pound person loosing 7.5 pounds ! Keep it up !

Over the past 30 years, I've had two Labs for a large percentage of that time. I've only had one issue, and that was when I brought in a 4 year old male who had know food aggression issues. I had no trouble what so ever for 2 years, Jake and Fannie were great friends. The one day, he attacked her, happened again a couple days later. Other than that, I've had no issues when introducing a new dog/pup to the family.
