The ones you make yourself.
There is yet another media article today about dog treats. This time it is Vitalife. Employees from the company where they are manufactured claim that old products were re-packaged as new and that conditions at the plant were unsanitary.
What are the safest treats to give your dog?
The ones you make yourself.

I just give my dogs a taste of random things I am eating for treats. For training treats, I use string cheese, turkey, and chicken

Only store bought treats chili gets on occasion are the greenie dental bones and american made pig ears. most of his treats are pieces of what I am eating. he loves bacon.

We don't feed a lot of bought treats, but when I do pick up a bag it's usually the "Northern" brand. Northern Biscuit Bakery
I Work in Kanata and live 50 min southwest of there. Lots of places sell this brand in the area. The way I look at it, if China will put melamine into human baby formula can you imagine what would make it into dog food/treats!?!?!? For me, it needs to be made and sourced in Canada or USA.

Carrots, apples, cheese and a raw egg are the usual treats. Carrots are a big favourite!
For training, I use sausages which I have cut up into very small pieces and frozen. (They last for a very long time).
No to anything in a plastic bag or made in China, or processed by anyone else other than me and labelled "dog treat".
