      NutriSource Grain Free?

Thor started off with ProPlan puppy food and did great. When we tried to transition him to adult ProPlan he went full on runny poops and stinky burps. We ended up settling on the ProPlan sensitive skin and stomach and he's been stable since about 8 months old. His poops have always been on the runny side (even when we cut back drastically on volume) and his burps remain stinky. But his eyes are clear, his fur and skin are great, his energy and personality are positively off the charts, so we've been hesitant to mess with what seems to work.

Well, in the craziness of our move and discontinuation of Chewy shipments while we transition addresses, I realized the other day that his food was really low. I went out to restock his supply in our new (and smaller) town and I could not find the SS&S ProPlan ANYWHERE. So I walked into one of the higher end local shops and asked if they could recommend something to tide him over given his history.

They gave me about a week's worth of samples of NutriSource PureVita Grain Free turkey formula. I started it last night (cold turkey since I was out of his old stuff) and he's now had three meals on it and you guys? He had the best poops he has EVER had. I was expecting disaster but no. Perfect. Like, I would think they came from a different dog. It was the poop I dream of having to pick up with my little baggie, none of that soft runny stuff that he ALWAYS seems to have. His energy levels are off the charts right now but I attribute that to having a new 10 acres to explore - he's just a very happy dog right now.

I am completely unfamiliar with this brand, but if it continues to work out this well I don't care about cost (it came from the 'fancy' store so I don't expect it to be cheap). Any comments? Experience? Should I stick with this one? I'll give him a few more days on it to see if it continues, but there is no way I expected a sudden transition of food to go this well and I am smitten.

I have found that when I change my dogs cold turkey to a really high quality food, they do just fine. I used to be afraid of fire hose butt on the walls or something, but now that I have found this to be true, I am always changing things up! One days it's a raw meal. The next it's kibble. Then for three days it's some home cooked food I whipped up from a bunch of random stuff in the freezer I needed to get rid of. It's AWESOME!

Also, that is a good brand. I've heard good things about it. I feed it to my cat and I could not be happier with the lack of smells from her turds in the litter box.

I do the plain NutriSource. I used to do the PureVita but just preferred the ingredients of the plain. We do the seafood and the Lamb. I used to do the Heartland but it was very difficult to find consistently in the big bags (that one's got bison in it and made the dogs' breath stinkier, but I liked the idea of bison).

      It's a good company.

It is average food on the level of Pro Plan.

I tried the PP lamb and egg...just to add to the rotation...my two were doing much better on the NS and I discontinued the PP.

I liked the samples I gave my dogs but the price was prohibitive for 6 dogs. It also didn't suit the needs of my seizure dog.

If only you saw my husband's face when I took thor out for his business and excitedly called for him to come out and look at something. I pointed at the pile of poop. "Look! It's perfect! He's NEVER pooped like that! Isn't it amazing?"

Nutrisource is a MN company. Bacon actually came home on this food, and we had to switch do his chicken and grain sensitivities. Its a great company, and good quality. Glad to hear you're having a good poop report!

Luna was on it for a while. I switched to Fromm for price reasons. I loved it when she was on it, though. No complaints, no recalls, she did very well. She just does the same amount of well on a different food for $10 a bag less, otherwise she'd still be on it.

I liked that they had so many flavors, too. Check out Nutrisource Heartland and Seafood select and add that in to your rotation with the PureVita. The company has a frequent buyer program too, ask the store clerk.
