Two different vets suggested twice a day as an anti-inflammatory measure. It was originally prescribed for Sunnie as support for her liver (had high enzymes of unknown cause...resolved after a course of Denamarin and has been fine since) and confirmed as good for both. Neither of mine can stomach such things as glucosamine, flax, MSM, etc. so I figure the fish oil is a good idea to continue.
They also have great skin/coats and no flakes ever.
If you give the Costco/ Kirkland fish oil, you probably should also add Vit E to balance it since the fish oil can cause a vit E depletion otherwise. I give my dogs all 2 fish oils + 1 Vit E daily.

I also use the human variety. Piper gets two and Rooney one for now. I poke a hole and squeeze it over the top; they seem to like it that way and anything to make Piper's food more exciting!
