was thinking of switching to pro plan 30/20 sport he is a hunting / field trail dog high energy
Try Dr. Tim's Pursuit. It is the best 30/20 on the market. Other great ones are Annamaet Ultra and Red Paw Perform 3. Dr. Tim also makes a food called Momentum that is 35/25 and the favorite with very heavily trained dogs.

You can get Pursuit in 44lb bags on Chewy at a great price. If you need help, there are very knowledgeable hunters and trial people on RetrieverTraining.net

The folks on here are largely pet people, they have good intentions but not the knowledge base you are looking for.

Chewy also has a great price on the Pro Plan Sport 30/20, they have excellent customer service too.

Ya know, I really wanted to stay out of your whole "this food is great, this food is junk" post. But seriously, I think your statement about "pet people" is pretty ignorant and condescending. You have no damn clue what you are talking about when you speak of the knowledge base of the people here. I know you think you are some kind of self appointed expert about dog food, and you won't accept the fact that a lot of people here do truly know their stuff. Quite frankly, you come off as being a bit of a pretentious d-bag to me.

O.K. I'll bite. What is wrong with Dr.Tim's dog food? I've never tried it.

Nothing that I know of, but I'm no "expert" and I'm just a lowly pet person.

I'm sure the food is great, but for me it's an accessibility issue. There is nowhere in a 50 mile radius that sells it. I'm sure ordering it is fine (Chewy is really quick), but I'm weird and I'd prefer to run to a store on my way home from work in a pinch vs buying it online and waiting for it to be delivered.

Guess I'm weird too, I called them with a question, no answer, had to leave a message, o.k., but nobody ever called back!
I didn't like that very much.

There's nothing wrong with Dr. Tims. A few people have fed it here throughout the years. Food used to a be a hot topic around here. There was always a different flavor of the month. When I first joined it was Taste of the Wild until Diamond had some significant recalls that was making dogs sick and everyone jumped ship. In recent years it seems like most members are going with and sticking with what the breeders feed. Proplan has always been a favorite amongst breeders so it's the one you will hear recommended the most often.

The foods LabMunster is recommending are good foods, they may not work for every dog but they aren't bad foods. It's his style and delivery that has everyone turned off.
