Fromm Four-Star Nutritionals vs. Canidae Grain-Free PURE Sea

    Hi all,

Our ten year old lab has been through a few difernt foods. Was on Taste of the wild for about 3 years till the lst bag sent him to the vet. through a couple tries it was determined it was the food .

So, He is on Zignature Kangaroo now, energy is good appetite is good, poop is soft...just a touch too soft to stay with it.

After extensive reading and waffling around I am down to Fromm Four-Star Nutritionals vs. Canidae Grain-Free PURE Sea.

Also wondering about moving from pro plan puppy to a grain free puppy?

Any thoughts on these foods would be great! thanks

I've used Fromm and the dogs did well on it. I've never used Canidae. As to the puppy, I'd keep him on the pro plan unless you have a valid reason to switch.

Thanks! I finally decided it was time pick one and picked Fromm due to slightly higher ratings and the mix of ingredients. We will keep the pup on pro plan till its time for adult food. There is so much info our there on dog foods its a bit much to absorb and a lot of opinion.

Trying Chewy for the first time as well. Amazon didn't have the Fromm

Fromm is a great choice, I hope it works well for your dog! I am glad you are keeping your puppy on the PP, especially if it is what your breeder sent him/her home on!

puppy is loving the food and our home. He still pees in the crate during the day but never at night. he been home a week and is 13 weeks old. I am hopeful with some age he will stop. He wakes us after about 5-6 hours at night and in the crate less than that during the day.

Food choice are difficult, I feel good about the Fromm ingredients and their reputation. We definitely want the best for our boys and the cost is not really the primary concern. Good appetite and solid stools would make me very happy.

I switched to Fromm several months ago and am happy with it. I raised my boys on ProPlan and changed to a premium food when they hit about a year. ProPlan hits the nutrition aspect really well, but I don't personally care for the ingredients and with my boys, a high-carb (corn-heavy) food doesn't help with the weight situation! They are both leaner than they have ever been since switching to Fromm which is great for their overall health and their joints, of course.

Fromm Four-Star Nutritionals Grain-Free Surf & Turf Formula Dry is the flavor we are on. Its a touch pricey, but our older boy loves it and has real good energy. I too like the lower carb food. they both get daily walks, but we work all day so they have a tendency to pack on the fat.

    Curious which you are using.

I heard only good about Fromm, they make a small kibble though, doubt the dogs care, probably just me.
Here's a tip- if you call customer service they'll send samples and a coupon, others may do the same.
    I feed Acana.

The kibble sometimes gets between the lip and the gum, but they figure it out.
