My 3 month of pup that I rescued two days ago doesn't seem to want to eat much. I bought her Iams Large Breed Puppy Food that cost me $40(which can be a bit of a waste if she don't eat it since I am a student). She ate some the first day, and yesterday a little bit, but so far today she doesn't ant any. She would rather sleep on the couch or lay in the grass in the yard. Is this something to be worried about? Or is she just not hungry?
Thanks Travis |

She's been with you for only two days, she's very must so still getting accustomed to her new home. Give her some time to settle in and she'll more than likely start to eat more. All three of my dogs didn't eat my in the first few days they've been with me, but after they're all comfy with the new place - they're eating habits would pick up quickly.

I agree, YellowDog03. Give your pup some time Axxerd . If you are feeding him and he does not eat like a horse that is ok. He will eat when he wants. Also he may not be a big eater. Just watch him after a week or so after he gets comfy with you. Watch that his weight still looks good on him. Right now he is probably just trying to figure out what is going on and he is a little scared. Just love him for now. He will come around.

try hand feeding...
i got my puppy last friday and have the same problem, but yesterday and today she showed no interest in food and i started taking some in my hand and offering to her, and she would eat it gladly from my hand, she did eat all her dinner last night, as well as lunch and dinner today this way!! (for breakfast i add baby milk to her food and she drank the milk and left the food, i did not hand fed what she left...)
it is great for bonding as well, and you can pat her and talk to her as she eats... when she's done, take the food away, and remember at what time she eat because she will need to go potty 12 hours later!!!! people generally feed their dogs at 7am and 7pm, or 8am and 8pm, etc... that's why dogs go potty right after eating!!! it's the previous meal that has been digested!!!! and if you know at what time your puppy needs potty time, it makes housebreaking easier!!! anyway, good luck!! elena |
