I've always been more of a large breed type of a person. When I was 5, my babysitter had a saint bernard and he was the sweetest dog. They also had a Chinese shar-pei and he was great too (the lady across the street was a shar-pei breeder). At my house, we had a lab-german shepherd mix and she was a great dog. We also got a beagle and that was a mistake because we were definitely not the right family for a beagle.
When I looked at other dog breeds for a potential next dog, I looked at goldens, bernese mountain dog, greater swiss mountain dog, and the anatolian shepherd. The anatolian and swissy aren't suited for my lifestyle though. While I really like the bernese, I can't get over the fact that they have such a short lifespan and that breaks my heart. If it weren't for that, I would be looking at the bernese more. Oh and I did look at the other one that is similar to the swissy and bernese...I think it is called appenzeller? But again, not suited for me.
So in the end because I love Sierra so much, I keep veering back to the labs.
