Unhappy Just a comment about dogs

I tend to scan Craig's list and I was looking at pets. It's really a sad thing.

Most of the dogs you see are about 4 months and up. Right about the time the pups lose that "Oh isn't he sooo cute" phase. Don't people realize puppies don't STAY puppies!?! Just when they are about the age of Brian and in their ornery grow up stage is when people figure out, "Oh I can't keep him because my kid is allergic to him (which they didn't know until they grew out of that clinging puppy stage. Really?) Or some other excuse. I know some are probably valid but on average I'm guessing it's the out of control puppy.

So what happens to that pup then? Why they get "rid" of the problem and give it to someone else who don't know squat about pups and when they don't teach them anything, they pass the animal on to another person....and so on and so on the rest of the poor dog's life

It just makes me sick. No wonder I like dogs better than most people I know.

Sorry for the rant, but I look at Brian and think, NEVER would I get rid of him because I didn't teach him anything.
Shoot I have my other dog who is not in the best of health and she pees, a lot! Do i get rid of her? Nope! I have half my living room sectioned off with one of those dog pens so she can't wonder around the house and pee. I will accomadte myself to her needs.

Sometimes I just really hate people lol.

Ok off my soap box Sorry for the ranting lol.

Yeah...it's the "hate people" thing that makes me totally avoid Craigslist.

I can't look at pet listings on Craigslist either. It does make you wonder about people.

My neighbors had a little yellow lab pup that they got in April or May. They tied the pup in their front yard to do her business. That's also the only socialization she got. She turned into a barker, jumper, and runner when ( happened more than once) she got off of her tie out. All of a sudden she disappeared. I made the assumption that they got rid of her.

So a few weeks ago I was talking to a different neighbor. I had been working with Bear and he commented on how well behaved he was. We got to talking about the yellow pup and what happened to her.

He told me this story where she got off of her tie out and started running and would not come back to her owner. Nice neighbor's wife happened to be outside and called the girl to her. She came running. Bad neighbor went up to her and asked if she wanted a dog. God neighbor said that yes, she'd take her. Bad neighbor handed her a leash and said here you go. I'll get you her stuff. Good neighbor's daughter now has her and is working hard on correcting everything they didn't train this girl on, including fear of people.

I guess my point is hat some of those CL dogs probably got a fantastic home with wonderful people and hit the jackpot on new owners.

So much in today's society is considered throw away. People get pets on the spur of the moment, like shopping for a loaf of bread, and when the poor pet becomes inconvenient or unmanageable due to the person's ignorance and selfishness, they simply get rid of it. It's a problem rescues face on a daily basis and make the problem so unbelievable and sad.

    Good uplifting story!
Know little about CL, don't go there, wouldn't deal with many of the people on there.
Have some negative examples on this topic but why go there? Suffice to say there's some sad people out there.

Sometimes you find a good dog. My friend has a rotti female he got from a breeder for 1600 . He wanted a male. It so happens the breeder calls him one night and tells him about one of his male litters dog from a few before the female on CG for 300$. My buddy went to check out this dog. He was kept outside in a kennel and fed cheap food and the people told him they got if from the breeder`s brother for 300$ when he got divorced. they just want the money back.

so the male rotti is now at my friends, he is 1 1/2 yr old , never been to a vet till my friend got him. He looked mangy too .
just good food and a cup of coconut oil every day and sleeping indoors has made wonders. He looks like a beast and is doing protection training.
    now

gigi trainer has 3 dogs all of craigslist and beautiful. i see some nice pups online.
