    Felt insulted

Molly and I went to a Dr last week and I got aggressively told to leave because I was not blind, The employee at the office hovered over me almost pushing me out the door. I told him loud and clear that I would be reporting them to the news channels as well as the ADA. I put Molly in the car and returned into thee office to get all the information. Employees name, office mangers name, and the landlords info as well as the DR. Name and license number. While getting this info from reception the employee came out apologizing over and over and telling me I cold now bring Molly back in. To be honest his behavior has caused me some issues and I will not return to that DR as he was so aggressive I am afraid to be there.

Yesterday I called a local church to find out if they allow service dogs to attend multiple groups and lectures they offer knowing that that have the right to actually say no. The person I spoke with said no we do not allow pets. I can not tell you how insulted I felt. I told her that she could not refer to my service dog as a pet. That as a church they have the right to say no but she kept insisting they dont allow pets.I thanked her and hung up. I was really upset for a few hours over the way she spoke to me. I dont know if I am being over emotional but I almost want to call back and ask to speak to her manager or someone higher up on the list. Maybe they need to be trained on how to speak to people.

I think you have every right to feel insulted...both of those situations were certainly brought on by a lack of knowledge and training.

I am so very sorry that both of you were treated this way. I was unaware that a service dog could be turned away from any place they enter especially the Lord's house.

A church is one that can say no. Makes no sense to me honestly.

So sorry you and Molly had to endure this type of treatment. Definitely pursue the doctors office. Of all places to not allow a service dog! The church, shame on them. Of all places that should welcome you and Molly with open arms. Wonder if the church has had some bad experiences? Even so, not good.

I'm sorry you felt disrespected. I think there's a LOT confusion these days about service dogs and the wide variety of other support animals, people wanting to bring pigs, turkeys, snakes, rabbits and other creatures into areas that normally wouldn't allow them. I was listening to a story on the radio just the other day about a child with cerebral palsy who had a service dog the family wanted to accompany her to school. They had difficulties with the school and school district who did not want the dog to perform the duties it had been trained to perform because she was assigned a human assistant. They had to switch schools and school districts. While no one should be treated with disrespect, it does provide an opportunity to enlighten others on the role of a trained service dog and the rights of those who require one.

Smartrock I find that educating people is just part of being out with Molly daily. I am happy to provide resources to those in need of service dogs as well as educate anyone that asks. I carry a video copy of her test certification in my bag as well as a copy of her shot records and my trainers card with an in case of emergency contact if there is an emergency and Molly needs to be picked up. I guess its all in the way its asked or presented. Ill take the time now that I have calmed down to re call the church to speak to someone higher in the food chain. I have taken the steps to report the Dr office because of how I was treated and feel no patient should be verbally attacked by staff. I have written a letter to the doctor but have to decide to give ignorance a chance and offer forgiveness and educate them so it does not happen again. Im torn between the twwo

It must be difficult and tiring to have to educate the public on a daily basis, especially those who should know already.
