    Sweaters to fit Labs

It is time. Dakota is not getting any younger and neither is China ( or me...) but the weather is getting colder and I have been looking for sweaters for the girls but I cannot find anything that comes in pretty colors in their size. I see tons of gorgeous sweaters for peanut sized dogs and this just isn't fair. Anyone know where I can find pretty sweaters for these 55 lbs. girls?

Here's a sweater fleece jacket from LLBean: Sweater Fleece Jacket for Dogs | Free Shipping at L.L.Bean and one from Ruffwear: Fernie? Fleece Dog Jacket | Ruffwear Performance Dog Gear

Do you definitely want a sweater or would you consider a jacket? RuffWear and RCPets make wonderful jackets/coats. Bean also has jackets (can't vouch for them but we have the RW and RCP ones).

Once you get the sizing right per the company website, you might be able to find the products on Amazon for cheaper.

I love this LL Bean fleece! Thanks for the links I'll give these a try. I was thinking sweaters but now I may try fleece instead. Coats, I just hadn't thought of but it's worth a try, it's cold here in the winter so we need something

I have the following coats for my 3.
Dog Jacket - Scout's Grab Jacket - Duluth Trading
I bought them a few years ago. Limited use & they have held up well. I only use them when its extremely cold, windy or snowy.
I was just looking Foster & Smith for a sweater as one of mine is suffering some hair loss, but selection is limited.

Two of my Labs needed coats for obvious chill (Hershey had a short coat but Baffle's was normal).

Fleece and knit sweaters usually have no wind-stopping capacity but are good for calm dry cold...no snow or rain. Jackets with a hard shell of some sort (and a fleece lining or separate fleece under-coat) are great for usual winter conditions. The two pups I have now have plain fleece jackets of different thicknesses and serious hard/fleece jackets...they tend to appreciate coats once the temp or wind chill hits freezing. With the Labs I just had hard/fleece jackets. (My two princesses also need raincoats to get them to agree to go out when it's damp...they'd probably appreciate my holding an umbrella for them but that's not going to happen.)

A versatile winter coat is Trilogy by RCPets...it's a 3-in-1 so you get a hard unlined jacket for wind/rain, a heavy fleece jacket for cold without wind, and the combination for serious cold w/ or w/out wind or snow. This is the one we use throughout the winter. Most of the dogs' other fleece or fleece-lined jackets are also RCPets. I have RuffWear raincoats.

I have a friend who swears by puffy jackets (down or fiber-filled) for her Ridgeback. I'd considered that but figure with these guys' shorter legs (and dislike of coats to begin with), they'd just be too sausage-like to be comfortable. My friend's Ridgeback looks sleek in hers: Chillybuddy? Winter Dog Jacket - The Paws Mahal (this link is to the shop where I've bought the dogs' chillybuddy cooling jackets....usually the best price for those). They look really well made and fit well...definitely warm.

I got Rocky a Chilly Dog last year and he's already worn it this year. It's a local company here (Though you can buy online - and good deal with the CAD being lower!). I'll try to get a photo of him in it. He has the jacket but they have sweaters and all kinds of products. Very good stuff.

    Chilly Dogs

He's also wearing booties :P My poor old man.

Great ideas. And I hadn't thought about this but it is usually with Dylan at our park. Maybe Sweaters are not the right way to go.....
Chilly dogs look great nice selection. Just a bit pricey since I've got 2 girls but it is a good investment, they'll get a lot of use.

He looks very handsome. (Those coats definitely look nice...I bookmarked the site for future use.)
