Guess I should be more careful about letting dogs lick me...

Yikes! I've never even heard of that bacterium. Chase has never been a licker and since Lark likes to "clean up" the yard behind Chase, I don't want that little tongue anywhere on me. I do my best to keep the yard clean of their poops but there can still be deer, rabbit and fox poo out there. Yeah, not much licking goes on here- they can lick each other!

VEry scary. We had a three year old visiting today and my sister was encouraging Oban to kiss him. Oban is not much of licker, usually.

The article said if you were healthy, it is not much of a threat. I would rather let Gabe lick me (I think I am rather healthy) than do without it. He is my companion and I try to watch if he eats anything outside on our walks. His affection for me is well worth the risk of possible infection was I have a very good immune system. I have had no illnesses since I was 14- a long, long time ago.

Yeah...I've gotten to the age of (shhhh.....) 65 without ever catching anything from the however many dogs who've licked me/my face. My two aren't big lickers. Dan sneaks in a lick or two on my leg while I'm fixing meals and spends a lot of time on Bob's face/beard. I think Sunnie's too timid to lick.

But my face is the target for many of my friends' dogs...I've even had a split lip and tooth scratches from overzealous pups. As far as I know, I've managed to stay clear of all of the poop eaters. Every now and then someone's tongue manages to get into my mouth...that's probably potentially as bad as an open wound, huh?

    Gotta love dogs!
