Forgot What It's Like To Have A Long Haired Dog in Wet, Packy Snow

My sister's English Shepherd is with us this week. Bonnie looks a lot like a Rough Collie, tons of long hair. We skiied this morning and, oh my, the snowballs on that poor dog. If we'd stayed out longer she might have ended up with them all connected to each other and just one big snowball under her. I broke chunks off where I could but she did the best job herself, biting them off while she lay on a towel in the kitchen. Then I just picked the towel up and shook it outside. Meanwhile Oban had not one little bit of snow stuck to him. I've told Sis to stay healthy and drive carefully 'cause if Bonnie was mine, I'd shave her. Kidding. Maybe. Hope I don't ever find out for sure.

You need a suit for her like Jen (Canyon) got for Wrigley. Don’t know if she’s shared it here, but she put pics on Facebook. Looks like a full body wetsuit, but not neoprene. She got it just for that reason.

I remember that. Snow really isn't too bad to deal with. Mud and brambles and stickies are where the coat could be most handy. And thankfully she did not join Oban in his paddle in stinky creek water today. Mere hosing off wouldn't get that out of her coat and anyway, the outside water is turned off.

Remember my Mom's cocker coming in the same way. Mom taught her to lay in front of a wall heater unit on a rug until she "defrosted".

LOL that is how Bailey was too. The boy would have to stop playing so I could help him get the snowballs out from between his toes. I felt so bad for him with all the snow hanging off his hairy self but he really loved the cold weather.
