    Dental Chew recommendations

Hello everyone. I'm looking for a dental chew treat that is safe to give my lab and that will help clean her teeth. I was going to go with Greenies, but after doing some research I might stay away from those. Does anyone have recommendations? Preferably something that won't break the bank. Thanks!

My guys love lamb ears (I recommend Shadow River brand on Amazon....reliably large ears)....they last a while, don't leave residue on the floor, and are crunchy/chewy but not slimy like rawhide. They also supposedly digest much easier than rawhide. If you like the smell of lamb, they smell really good. (I'm tempted to chew on one myself...well, OK, not really, but I do like lamb.)

The 25-pack is a good buy. I just bought more and they had only the 10-pack but anticipated having more of the larger packs any day.

    Marrow bones. USA made rawhide.

I use USA sourced beef trachea, or raw turkey necks. For adults only, puppies do not get either until their adult teeth are in.

I buy the pedigree dentastix, have no idea if they have bad stuff in them, Rocco likes 'em, try to keep it down to every other day.

With older dogs, older teeth, here is what I don't recommend. Ice cubes - Potion had a slab fracture from one. Marrow bones, raw - same problem. Nylabones for any age (some will disagree with me but even my vet does not like them. I stay away from a lot of the things that can be given to younger dogs relying more on chewable, durable toys. The heavy duty fabric ones are pliable enough to contour to teeth and do a cleaning. Poor Archie, after having to have 9 teeth removed due to neglect before he joined us, does not get much in the heavy chew department. Don't neglect brushing, it helps a lot.

Antlers, Deer for mild chewers, Elk for the heavy chewers.
