Lucy's having her 1st sleepover guest- any tips?

We are taking care of our neighbor's chocolate female lab this Saturday afternoon through Sunday. Lucy plays with her every weekday for about an hour while I am at work so they know each other & get along very well. Do I feed them separately? What about sleeping arrangements? Lucy is not crated anymore but I think Rumour (that's her name) is crated at night. Thanking you all in advance !!

Since they know each other and play well should be relatively easy.

As for feeding it would not hurt to have them in separate rooms. At the minimum opposite sides of the kitchen or wherever you feed Lucy.

Nightime? Probably dont want to stray from Rumors current routine so you dont cause trouble when she goes home. Although having a friend to play with all day both will probably sleep quite well!

      Enjoy!

Luna's best friend had a sleepover a month or two again, and they play for an hour every day as well... they are obsessed with each other. I would feed them separately, and definitely separate them at night. Luna and her BFF threw a rave and peed all over each other they were so excited to spend the night together and DID NOT SLEEP a wink, just played with each other the entire time. It was hell on earth, but they were great during the day. I would keep Lucy in your bedroom, door closed, and Rumour crated in your living room or another room that can be closed off.

I'd feed separately. If her BFF is already used to the crate for sleeping I'd stick with that. Just try and get as much info from her owners about her household routine so you can mirror most of it. Sounds like Lucy is going to have a fantastic weekend!

We recently finished a week-long sleepover. The first time we watched Daisy, she was 4 and Kimber was 2 and they were wild and crazy. Don't be surprised if Lucy and Rumour go into nonstop play mode. Kimber and Daisy were so used to time together=play time, they didn't really know how to chill when around each other. It took 3 days of constant wrestle/chase/play-with-us-mom fun before they collapsed into labby naps. I definitely agree about feeding them separately, and if Rumour is crate trained, that may be a godsend at night! Have fun!

I would fed seprerately, no reason to try anything that could possibly lead to issues.

If he is crated at night I would crate. Sometimes a dog sleeping over is unsettled and has trouble sleeping (even when they know you) so best to give him something familar.

Really nothing to add. Just wanted to say hoping all goes well and that Lucy and Rumour have an excellent time playing together.

the sleepover went off without a hitch- they played, napped, ate, played some more & slept like 2 exhausted dogs! So glad it went well, so nice to have dog sitting & boarding right down my block.
