    First time camping/canoeing

Luna and her father (DH) are going camping the weekend after next, with two of DH's friends. We have a collapsible 42" crate (LL Bean) she will be sleeping in, and she is used to and likes. We use it all the time when visiting friends or family. She has traveling supplies for her food and water, as well as toys.

She will be going in a canoe for the first time. She has been on my father's motorized fishing boat, and is a champ. She's awesome. She's been swimming a million times and is a great swimmer. We don't have her wear a life jacket when swimming, and have considered it for the fishing boat just for ease of getting her back in the boat if she goes overboard.

Thoughts on getting a life jacket for the canoe?

A life vest is a good idea, but if not, Luna needs a harness. Getting a dog back in the boat is not easy without one.

I would definitely invest in a life jacket. Though Luna loves the water, great swimmer, would be easier to help get her back into the canoe. I'm the "better safe than sorry" kind of person.

Sounds like Fun! Hoping your DH and Luna have a blast!

We picked her up a sweet Ruffwear life jacket and she's been practicing wearing it while jumping in the pool and swimming around so she's prepared. She likes it so far! I'll make sure DH takes tons of pictures and post them.
