Has anyone tried this for puppies?

I came across this comfort toy and was wondering if anyone tried it? I hear it works. Has warm pad and a realistic heart beat. So it's suppose to comfort puppies in their new home.

I have. I bought it before we brought Maverick home. He didn't want it or need it as the warming/beating heart toy. I just let him have the dog. I feel like it wasn't really well put together and eventually the velcro holding the heart and rice bag in (that's what you warm up-and can reheat instead of throwing away) got unsticky and eventually fell apart. The stitching on the dog's paws and nose started coming off and became hazardous. The dog had to be thrown away. It was like a human grade stuffed animal for puppies. It was a good concept, just very expensive and not worth the price.

When we got Bear I went to Wal-Mart in the baby section and bought a little stuffed bear with a microwaveable pouch for $10. We still have it and it's still in perfect shape. I think something like that might be a better option for you.

It probably would work to a point with a new pup.....I used to use an old-fashioned ticking alarm clock & a heating pad....what really helps is for the breeder to send the puppy home with you with a stuffed toy that has the mother & litter-mates scent on it......

Bring a stuffy with you on pick-up day and ask the breeder to rub it all over mama and other babies. That stuffy can be his binkie for those first few days at his new home.

Awww...baby B is so gentle! Khan and his brothers tore up his toy together playing tug pretty quickly.

Yes, I got a Snuggle puppy for Chase. He slept with it for a while, I don't think I ever used the heating feature but the first few nights I did turn on the heartbeat. He was super easy as a baby going into his baby crate on my side of the bed and slept well from night one. I don't know if that was just him being fabulous, whether the Snuggle puppy helped, although he did seem to love it. It wasn't long before he tried to chew its ears off though, so Snuggle Puppy got put up. I tried to give it back to him maybe a year later but he went to work on those ears again. He also had a bathmat that had gotten rubbed all over his Momma before we came home that was also in his crate and soon he tried to chew that up as well. Quite the chewer, our Chase. I did not get a Snuggle Puppy for Lark, the old one is still around with chewed up ears but I figured she was in a crate in our bedroom, she had a bathmat rubbed on her litter mates, and Chase was also there on a bed nearby. She was a dream puppy, too. I credit both breeders big time for getting them accustomed to being in a crate before they came home with me.

So, you might consider one of those stuffies that are supposedly chew proof or very softly stuffed to take to rub on your pup's Mom or litter mates rather than a human baby stuffed animal. Lark had a goDog stuffed baby dinosaur, I've seen some cute ones that look like Lamb Chop. I don't know if Snuggle Puppy was worth the additional $20 or so compared to a less high tech stuffed animal.

I would agree with this. If you think he needs the warmth, you can always make a homemade rice bag out of an old sock. That’s what we did for Cookie and Sassy when they were only a couple days old and the two of them didn’t seem to be enough snuggling warmth for each other. An older puppy shouldn’t need it though, unless you keep your house unusually cold.

I like the idea of one of those unstuffed dog toys. The snuggle puppy is not cheap! Like $38 for something that is probably gonna get chewed up.

My mom bought Aimee one of those when she was a baby, she treated like any other toy so personally I wouldnt waste my money. She sleeps with me and always has so maybe thats why she didnt need anything to snuggle with, she sleeps on top of me
