Hardly. ANd I am sorry that's how you interpret it. The idea of recommendations is that folks that show and breed themselves usually can weed through the marketing BS that back yard breeders usually put out there. If you choose to ignore the help available, that's cool. My door is always open to those who want to chat and I've helped plenty of folks who've already put non-fundable deposits on less than stellar litters and gave them advice on how to make the best of the puppy they've committed too.

First, this is a Labrador site, the breeders here are on here to help and share their experiences with Labradors. This is far and above the breeders that do not.
Second, a breeder here on this site is going to have vast knowledge on Labradors. Mechanics, genetics, temperament, growth patterns, diseases, etc.
Third, they are experienced, the knowledge they have on Labradors by far out outweighs most average owners. I personally have had Labradors since I was 7, I have learned more from the breeders here since being on the forums than I knew the other 30+ years. Do I agree with training philosophies, no not all of them. However the actual knowledge of the Labrador itself as an entity, they are far more knowledgeable than I.
Fourth, I have never seen a breeder on here claim they know everything. However, if they do know, then they really know and can back it up.
Fifth, None of the breeders here are breeding them in mass just to churn out puppies and make a profit, in fact they frown on that extensively. In this same thread Shelly says she keeps her prices low so families can get good pups.
Sixth, If I was to get another puppy, my first pick would be to go to the breeders here. If I could not get them from one of the breeders here, I would certainly want their advice, opinion and recommendation. They are also quick to notice warning signs from more disreputable breeders, because that's what they do and have been doing for years. If it is a friend of theirs, then they talk to that friend, they know the lineage of that friend, they know the quality of that friends dogs. They are not recommending them just so they get a sale. They are recommending them because they honestly feel that friend is producing good Labradors for the right reasons. Labrador breeders talk to other Labrador breeders. They also share dogs to cross breed traits and to get fresh blood in their own kennels to prevent inbreeding. They get to know and vet other breeders and their dogs.

Why the hell do you seem to think you need to attack everyone on the site? If you want to Troll people you can go to other sites like Reddit or something.

    This is getting ridiculous
a person (the OP) comes here and asks some good, valid questions. And appears to be listening and open to what experienced people have to say.
Look at a lot of signature pictures - there are breeders mentioned there by virtue of the dog's full name being listed.
NONE of the breeders on this site need to "promote" their puppies here - they are sharing valuable knowledge with those that are asking questions. Thats worth lots to have access to that info. Who better to answer some of the questions being asked by people contemplating a new dog from a breeder, than another breeder? We all know that there are tons of puppy mills and unscrupulous breeders out that that really are in it for the dollars. Why is it a problem that people with lots of experience offer help to avoid such places?
In my business, the same type of experienced information that breeder members are sharing would cost a consult fee at minimum. And thats if you're fortunate enough to find someone even willing to spend their time sharing, albeit for a charge.
The Board has a policy that we don't start throwing around kennel names to protect the board owner from getting hassled or worse when the bad kennels/breeders get mentioned in a truthful manner to warm potential purchasers about them. If someone mentions a name, and then its moved past, especially a new person, there isn't any harm done, and no need to delete posts etc. Even when that is then commented on, the next bunch of people aren't trumpeting the name over and over again. I don't see any kind of "pattern" or "trend" or "history" of ANY of the breeders consistently bringing up their kennel names or those of their friends. I see lots of our breeders here offering valuable advice, and suggesting a PM to anyone wanting whatever knowledge they have about specific breeders.
Perhaps a thread lock at this point is in order. Lots of good information in this thread that would be a shame if it got deleted, but there is no point to continual discussion about a topic that i think is already a Sticky....
