    new lab puppy price?

most of you know I bought my chili online for alot of money flown to me. Now I am looking to adopt/rescue/buy another dog and from what I can see on internet, its as expensive or more 3 years later. A purebred rescue of any breed is 500-800 in my area with no background....this is crazy imo. Im not defiant of price or money, but I would like to know if everyone is paying big bucks for a pup? I just want a everyday average healthy puppy, does that mean 2k + nowadays?

    your thoughts?

I would budget between $1500-$2000 to buy a well-bred Lab. Anything more than $2000 for a pet I would want to understand more about the breeding (for example, particularly expensive frozen breeding to famous long-dead sire or semen imported from famous sire on the other side of the planet, etc.). I paid in the $1500 range for my dogs and they are not just pets. My last puppy was a show prospect.

A pet should cost the same. They are coming from the same litter with the same breeding and standard of care. Again, budget $1500-$2000 for a well-bred Labrador sold by a good breeder as a pet.

No. Sophie and Bruce whom I imported from the UK were just over $2k including shipping to the US. I can tell you from my puppy search last year price does not equal quality. And I agree with what dxboon said.

The last time I bought a puppy was Mulder in 1999 and at the time he was $800. Scully was $700 in 1996. The stud fee for Chloe’s pups was the average price of a puppy in this area and was $1500. $2000 seems a bit high to me - I’d want to know why, but $1500 is fairly average. Some of that probably depends on where you live - in areas with a generally lower cost of living, it might be a bit less, in expensive areas a bit more.

A few years back the cost around here was $1500 from a reputable breeder, clearances checked several generations back.

$1200-1500 for the most part but some have bumped to $1800+ in my area. No real rhyme or reason.... aLways do your homework on OFAs etc.

I think $1500 is about average right now.

I think $1,500 is very standard, but I have seen a LOT more, example $2,500. Always do your reseach and get the best match for you - as I told my brother when he got his lab, don't make choices on $'s, do it on your research and what you want in a dog, that dog will hopefully be with you 12-15 years.
