I am, thank you.
But let's get to Shelley's post;
"Just make sure you pass a breeder you are looking at through one of the breeders on here before you commit."
Information- welcome,
Opinions-welcome,
Experiences-welcome,
but I don't believe anyone's decision should have to be approved by another.

I meant it was bit more then what a mix puppy is being sold here. You can get a mix for 200 $ but will not see the parents or know what type of mix it is. I paid a bit more as I saw the puppies, where they were housed and parents in person.

Bernie,
I don't believe Shelley was issuing this as some sort of mandate but rather as a helpful suggestion that the breeders that frequent this site might serve a resource that one can reach out to as a connection to folks that might surely be more experienced than a lesser experienced potential buyer, each case being different. Obviously nobody can insist you run your intention to buy a pup through themselves nor anybody else. At best, caveat emptor and do ye homework as has been suggested throughout the thread. JMHO.

I go to the dog park alot and it's a awesome resource . I have talked to more lab owners than any other breed . You can get a real feeling of how a dog is from a local breeders from current owners..
I have a local breeder and every lab I have met from them has been amazing quality .Friendly , trainable and good reviews . I been recommending them to my mother in law.
Ask around.

You know, this thread is one example why most of the breeders that used to frequent this site no longer do. Nobody I know in the breed thinks they know all there is to know about Labs. Yet in a case like this where the OP admits maybe he didn't make a great choice last time, as much as he loves his dog, and instead would like some feedback and help from people this time, instead gets sidetracked.
Everyone can certainly find Lab puppies themselves with the internet or going to the dog park or looking at free ads, etc. Nobody here can mandate that you do anything. However, there is a large storehouse of knowledge and behind-the-scenes information about the people and dogs in the breed that is generally not available or easily accessed by the average pet person. You don't want to avail yourself of it, that's fine, but IMO Labs are one of the hardest purebreds to source when it comes to separating out the subpar breeders from ones that truly do their best to produce Labs with proper temperament, health, and looks. There's simply so many Labs bred every year that if your criteria is to find a Lab with the best chance at health that will act like a Lab should and conform to how a Lab should look, any extra breeder insight could be helpful.

well if the forum members find a healthy lab chocolate to go with my chili for a decent price, I am willing. due to my disabilities I cant drive more than a few hundred miles a day unless my wife or family member drives. I live in 87114, albuquerque nm. good home, retired, fenced back yard, sleeps inside(my bed), walks daily, dog parks weekly, acana food, pet insurance, lots of love....
my chili almost 4, neutered male....
Pot meet Kettle,
First, this is a Labrador site, the breeders here are on here to help and share their experiences with Labradors. This is far and above the breeders that do not.
Second, a breeder here on this site is going to have vast knowledge on Labradors. Mechanics, genetics, temperament, growth patterns, diseases, etc.
Third, they are experienced, the knowledge they have on Labradors by far out outweighs most average owners. I personally have had Labradors since I was 7, I have learned more from the breeders here since being on the forums than I knew the other 30+ years. Do I agree with training philosophies, no not all of them. However the actual knowledge of the Labrador itself as an entity, they are far more knowledgeable than I.
Fourth, I have never seen a breeder on here claim they know everything. However, if they do know, then they really know and can back it up.
Fifth, None of the breeders here are breeding them in mass just to churn out puppies and make a profit, in fact they frown on that extensively. In this same thread Shelly says she keeps her prices low so families can get good pups.
Sixth, If I was to get another puppy, my first pick would be to go to the breeders here. If I could not get them from one of the breeders here, I would certainly want their advice, opinion and recommendation. They are also quick to notice warning signs from more disreputable breeders, because that's what they do and have been doing for years. If it is a friend of theirs, then they talk to that friend, they know the lineage of that friend, they know the quality of that friends dogs. They are not recommending them just so they get a sale. They are recommending them because they honestly feel that friend is producing good Labradors for the right reasons. Labrador breeders talk to other Labrador breeders. They also share dogs to cross breed traits and to get fresh blood in their own kennels to prevent inbreeding. They get to know and vet other breeders and their dogs.
Why the hell do you seem to think you need to attack everyone on the site? If you want to Troll people you can go to other sites like Reddit or something.

If you looking for a pet and it does not have to be pure bred there are lots of pets in need of homes please consider looking in the shelters. As far a costs in my are range from $1500 to $2000 from a respectable breeder.
I hope you find what you looking for either way and I cant wait too see puppy pics
