Have you tried Bach's Rescue Remedy? It is homeopathic drops for anxiety, it may help and can't hurt. :-)

My dogs love "doggy style" hamburgers at In N Out burger, or a cheeseburger from McDonalds, buns and all. They usually just get one when they have done something good, like AKC Ch points, or a title like a WC or CGC, or a really good training day.

got back from vet, starting out w/3mg melatonin...he says vets can prescribe xanax for pets and even stronger stuff...that was surprising. most dog owners prbably using xanax for themselves hope melatonin helps...next step is antihistamines.

Sounds like either or both of the two events you referred to (the training school ride and/or riding alone in your truck on the flatbed) were the instigating event(s). Which one happened first; can you remember if Chili started showing anxiety then or was it the double whammy of the two? Do any other clues or keys come to mind?

I have no experience with this particular predicament. Maybe a lot of frequent short rides to happy places is the Rx.

Interesting that melatonin was prescribed, never heard of that. Let us know how that works.

I think it was mainly when I took him to the daycare/training/boarding place...but I know the tow truck was a big deal when I noticed him spazzing out. melatonin isnt working yet. cranking up the radio kinda seems to be helping. Im just trying to do daily trips with him and treat when he quiet. chili weighed in at vet at 95lbs vet wants me to get him down to 85 and if chili gets to 100 vet going to prescribe weight stuff i guess??? anyway, i will keep updating.

How about lavender oil ?. I posted before . Some time when gigi was small, we would put a small paper towel with lavender oil. this will calm her down before we kennel her for transport in a new car. She does not need it except she has be kenneled for transport in smaller tight crate.
