I Should be Getting a Bird Dog for This

LOL, a bird dog as in a referral fee for the show Oban puts on when we visit his Vet. Or some kind of advertising fee. LOL Oban acts like she is his favourite person in the whole, wide world. He whines, he wiggles, he winds himself around her. Last time she sat on the floor in the waiting room to hug and kiss him and he thought he'd died and gone to heaven. He looks like videos on youtube of a dog welcoming home a long gone family member. Then she stands up and he runs ahead of us into the exam room like there must be bowls full of his favourite treats in there. Staff and any other waiting patients are watching all this with big smiles on their faces. I wonder if our Vet gets any new patients from Oban's antics.

Aren't we lucky to have this relationship? What is it like when you visit your Vet? Is your dog ecstatic to see his/her Vet?

As some of you know, Thor is the first dog I've raised from a puppy. And I researched and researched everything. I grew up with rescues that were fearful of everything. So I made it my mission to socialize Thor so he wasn't afraid of anything. One of those things being the vet. I took him to visit over and over again, just to walk in the door and get some loves and treats from the staff.

Well, in true lab fashion Thor didn't just get socialized to tolerate the vet. He learned that the vet is the BEST THING EVER, and he behaves much like how you describe Oban. And nothing changed with the new vet in Oregon. Our new vet is even better with him than our old vet, she has labs herself and always wants to see Thor when we drop by. Every time we're there other dog owners are like "I wish my dog was as happy to come here." Yep, I think they should use labs for their commercials.

Oh, sure wish Archie felt the same way! After the surgeries he's been through, really can't blame him that going to the vet is definitely not on his like list.

Boomer's always happy to be at the vet. People always smile at him. They give him a lot of love but with the three surgeries he's had in the 21 months I've had him, he's now somewhat hesitant to leave the examination room without me.

All mine love going to the vet too, Sarah and Ginger just chat up a storm with the girls at the front desk. People laugh at Ginger talking some laugh at Sarah but some are a bit fearful of my girl too. I have to tell them Sarah is just a talker.
