It has been six weeks since Cassie had the TTA procedure done on her left knee. Feels like forever to me. She had her checkup yesterday afternoon and the surgeon was very pleased with her progress. She is walking on the repaired knee about 90% of the time. If she gets excited and tries to gallop, she tucks the bad leg. The surgeon said that there is some atrophy to the muscles of that leg but it is to be expected since she really hasn't used it in almost 8 weeks. He told me to start walking her a bit further and to make sure that she still avoids jumping or running. She is very comfortable in the crate so I am still utilizing it when company comes over - mainly to protect her from them.
We will have x-rays taken at 10 weeks to ensure that the bone graft has healed as expected. Once we clear that hurdle it will be a slow and steady return to training and exercise (fingers crossed).
