What does anyone know about these people?

PuppySpot | Find the Right Puppy for Your Family

They say they absolutely are not representing puppy mills. At the same time, I perused the lab puppies and no mention was made about health clearances... none. Just wondered if anyone knew anything about them.

Very pricey. But they offer financing!

First thing that shouted out to me was on top - designer puppies. I think this is just another way puppy mills are doing their dirty deed.

I had never heard of them.

    Few questions.

    1) Who are the breeders?
    2) where do the puppies come from? Are they shipped or would a prospective owner get to pick puppy up?
    3) clearances? And what exactly is included in the health guarantee?
    4) what is an apr champion?

Each of these puppies from an unknown source costs a lot of money. It's sketchy at best.

I'm leery of any article lobbying animal rights group to shut an organization down. Given their chance almost nothing I do with my dog would be allowed. (Recently read about legislation proposed in Jersey and some that is currently the law in Toronto... all of which, I think is bad for dogs and dog fanciers.)

BUT... it's entirely possible I'd join hands with these folks if, indeed, this organization was promoting bad breeding practices and animal cruelty.

Found a short thread of a recent review from a customer here (he talks about wanting to return his dog but the issues he ran into are still worth reading). I did a WHOIS lookup of their web address. Their registrant, administrative & technical contact info is listed as private. An interesting choice. Businesses and organizations usually list their main branch info to verify ownership of the domain. If the domain is private, I believe the company doesn't actually own the web address, the registering company does.

To me, a private registration for a puppy broker is a red flag. If the puppies featured are pricey, it's partly due to the inclusion of the broker's fees. So a chunk of the cost won't be about the health & care of the puppy.

Reviews from employees are here with at least one person saying, "Stop trying to sell $200 dogs from sketchy breeders for $3000." Reviews can be gamed but the ones I read mention sales quotas, prizes, pressure to sell... Another comment was about how great it was to look at photos of puppies all day.

Looked at the "about us" section and the top brass are business people, and technology experts. They are experts in websites and matching. This leaves me with little confidence they have any ability to properly screen breeders (nor is there anyone on their board that has any exeprience or exptertise in animals, animal husbandry or anything like that.

To me it looks like a fancy website that says all the nice things required to make uneducated buyers (or slightly educated buyers) think it's legit (especially considering the top staff - I know you need business people but the fact that there is ZERO mention of someone with experience/knowledge in dogs/breeding as a top level official says something).

They ONLY talk about puppies, puppy's health, etc. USDA licenced is a pretty low bar as far as I am concerned. They could care less about health clearances or proving parents nor do they talk about temperament of hte parents at all. or even the living conditions of parents.

They do not talk about clearances or health of the parents at all

went to the link - And there you have it - it's all about sales. Even the positive reviews gives you an idea that it's about selling puppies and getting breeders on board to have more puppies to sell. right down to the hard work to meet sales quotas. you seriously screening buyers when you need to make difficult quotas? really?

It's interesting what you can find about a company. I looked up a few of the "administration" and it looks like several of them may have been part of a Spark Networks reorganization, that didn't include them. It certainly sounds like they are just puppy brokers. Plus, all the "designer puppies" they advertise doesn't bode well for their approach either, although how many people have we all known who want a particular ridiculous breed combo and are willing to shell out big bucks to get one? I'd like a shelpomdoodlepoo, please.
