I don't know what they use in Heartguard for flavoring...

But it is crack cocaine for dogs. We just resumed our monthly "treats". We live where there are no mosquitoes. But because Rocket Dog goes out of town for HT's she has to get her prophylaxis. OMG... I barely pick up the package and there is a 3 dog stampede into the kitchen. It draws them in faster than opening a jar of peanut butter.

We need a picture, or better yet, a video.

Might be that it's the once a month "special" treat".

Thor is the same way. This was his look this afternoon when I was near the cabinet where I keep the Heartguard.

Mine get excited for their Heartguard as well. I think it is beef flavoring.

If we could get some of that without the Ivermectin in it, it would be a powerful training tool!

They do make it - my vet has some “flavor sample” ones at the front desk, that are exactly that - heartgard without the medication.

Have to wonder how much of the attraction/reaction is to the packet the stuff is in. Is the packet crinkly sounding when you open it? Rabies bait for fox is in little cellophone type packets because they've learned, from garbage, that good stuff to eat makes a crinkly sound.

This is one of many reasons I love Labs. When I need to give them medication I just crinkle any package and ask "who wants a treat?" They just eat it. Vic
