Anyone use dog car seat belts?

I was debating on how to transport the new pup. Jules always rode in the back of my SUV but I want the new pup to ride next to me. So I was looking at dog car seat belts. I was wondering if anyone used them. If so, what brand? I have my eye on one off amazon.

I've used these, but I still recommend crating in the car. Champion Canine Seat Belt System

I've used the Ruff Rider Roadie for mine but now they ride in the far back of my smallish SUV, no harnesses. Crates won't fit. HOME - Ruff Rider

I don't think riding in the front seat is recommended for dogs, just like for young kids, because if the airbags deploy, they're going to smash into the dog pretty hard, harness or no harness.

I brought Lark home in a crate. We didn't have a smaller sized crate when we got Chase so he rode with me in the back seat with someone else driving.

I've got the Roadie seat belt as well, the older style. I actually have 3 of various sizes, and one of the new ones that is too big for Scout. Trigger still rides in a crate in the backseat. Not ideal, its ratchet strapped down on four corners, and its wedged between the front passenger seat back and the rear seatback sitting on the seat. Scout is belted in beside it, he's got 2/3rds of the back seat, the crate takes up the other 3rd.
My truck would fit 2 36" crates in the very back, with a board or something to level the floor. But not sure what i'd anchor them to, theres just the light-weight cargonet screws, not seatbelt mounts back there. Plus, i like them to see out and me (not that Trigger can see out from his crate, but he can see me-its got a side entry door).
We drive a lot, and its a bit of a concern. I'm hoping the current arrangement is a good solution-Trigger isn't going to fit in that crate past about another month, then I'm not sure what i'm going to do- he's still to bouncy to wear a seatbelt.

I tried seat belts but Sam chews through them in a heart beat.

Our minivan *just* fits 2 36” crates (actually they are 35.5 inch) behind the second row of seats (with the 3rd row folded down). They are wedged in there tight to the point that we scratched up the side of the cargo area just getting them in. A couple weeks ago I had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting a deer and the crates didn’t budge. They can’t really see out, but it doesn’t seem to bother them. Occasionally for longer trips with all 3 I put another, side opening crate in between one of the crates and the front passenger seat, and move the seat back enough that it is pinned between the crate and the seat. Haven’t had to crash test that configuration, but I don’t use it that often - mostly just make two of them share one of the 36inch crates.

I do have a really old (don’t remember the brand) seatbelt for use in the Jeep, but we rarely take dogs in that and I only have one, anyway.

The area behind my middle row seat in the Durango actually has a 3rd row seat, folded down under the cargo mat. Because of that seat, the floor back there slopes up toward the front of the vehicle a bit. The truck is wide enough to hold the 2 36" crates, plus the folded up soft crates beside them. I've actually had 2 of those plastic crates from Cabella's, 2 36" and a 42" soft crates in the back along with show bags and 2 humans luggage, then Scout plus a Golden and her human in the middle row, and the human for the 2 springers in the rear crates in the front seat- that was a wild show weekend- both other ladies' vehicles broke down, so we loaded them all up in mine. Plus towing Scout's trailer, which had more of their gear tossed in it.
I have a seatbelt that will likely fit Trigger in a couple of months, but the issue right now is i don't trust Scout and he to sit nicely and share the back seat. Scout still doesn't want Trigger up in his space, and Trigger still figures Scout needs him to lick at him. The seatbelts don't hold them rigidly in place, they can lay down or turn around, and although Scout shares the backseat with the Border Collies i dogsit, its normally the older female i put with him, and she's too busy stressing about being in the car to do anything other than cling to the seat. I don't want to be driving and have the 2 of them decide its time for a "discussion" about space. Really hoping that they'll be better together by the time Trigger can't fit in that crate.

I think I'm gonna go with the Sleepypod harness. After viewing lots of crash tests it seems to be the only option for a safe harness. We have 1 SUV and 1 sedan. So a crate will not fit into the sedan. Those crates are so expensive! Even the harness is $72. We'll try that first I think. Thanks everyone for your input!
