I also know the sire and dam of your puppy, what a nice breeding that was. :-) He is gorgeous!

I've had people ask me if Cookie was a Golden Retriever "because Labs are black".

THESE are the people I am talking about -- the ones that I run into at community outreach events. They also think there are three separate breeds: Black Labrador Retriever, Yellow Labrador Retriever, and Chocolate Labrador Retriever.

We have so many labs in our neighborhood that no one has to ask. At the beach I've had people ask if Chase is a mix. One asked me if he's a labradoodle "because he's so pretty". I've also gotten, "Is he a black lab?" How do you even respond to a question like that? Yes, he is a purebred lab, yes, he is black.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

How about when you have a field breed and a bench, both black. People ask what they are I reply Labradors. They get a quizical look and walk off. I am 6'2" 250lbs. I now have a chocolate pup that is going to be a runt, maybe 45 lbs. LOL Vic
