Thanks for the well wishes, and sorry for the delay posting.
Surgery went well, his back end she's pleased with how much of the growth she was able to strip out, to me it looks like it's entirely gone.
He only had one extraction as she said the x-rays showed the other roots were still alive. His breath is almost normal already. Whew.
But boy oh boy was he slow to recover from the anesthetic, they didn't do surgery until after lunch it turns out, and by 3pm they were calling and saying he would like to go home....I was in a meeting and couldn't get out tof get him til close to 6pm, and he was so stagger-y, they helped me load him, and I have the new Petloader steps so I could get him out at home
Trigger wondered what was up with him. He was so out of it, but wouldn't stay put, kept trying to get up and follow me, so finally helped him up on couch and convinced Trigger we needed to just sit for the evening.
Had to convince him to get up this am, still pretty wobbly. He was much improved by tonight, but tired.
So he is going to be really upset when he realizes in the morning that i'm headed out the door to field without him, but with trigger

Glad to hear all went well! Cookie was slow to recover from the anesthetic too, but bloodwork came completely normal a few months later, so I guess it has to do with age and slow(er) metabolism.

Thanks for the update. I've noticed recovery slowing down with age with some of mine as well.

Whew, so glad to read this, all is right. Does he have any special pooping instructions? Are there stitches that have to be kept clean? I'm sure you remember my post about Oban's "bad trip" with anaesthetic, pretty scary to watch. Strange how they, and we, can react to the same med differently at times.

Great update! So glad all went well. Bet his mouth will feel better to him.

I've found each dog recovers from anesthesia differently. Some of ours were just lumps, sleeping it off. The worse was Melody who fought the entire time to overcome the effects. I thinks it's part of their makeup to get moving as soon as possible as the weak one will not survive, part of their genetic makeup.

Sending healing prayers and gentle hugs.

Glad things went well. Scout looks just like my Yukon, who is also 10. Griffin is 1 so it looks to be a similar situation. Yukon had a premolar extraction a few years ago but he could use some more work on his gums now. He's got some other issues now with rear end weakness I'm trying to address first with PT, laser light therapy, adequan, etc.
    Griffin growing up!
