    Use for Dog Hair

Last year I read on the internet somewhere that birds would use dog hair for their nests. It always seemed like the dogs were shedding after the birds were done with nest making. Last year I tucked dog hair into an old bird feeder that we had and saved more in a bag. This spring lo' and behold the dog hair disappeared from the feeder and I put out the extra hair and it disappeared to. We've brushed the dogs a few times now and put it in the feeder. Just now, there were a couple of sparrows getting some to add that little bit of plushness to their nest. Guess, I need to get a photo of it.

I've done the exact same thing. I'd save it and stuff it into an old suet feeder for them to take. And refilled it several times, too.

Oh, I never thought to put it in a feeder. A suet feeder is a great idea. We put the hair out too, in the far back, but we don't know if it blew away or a bird took it. Going to use the feeder idea.

I always figured the birds could use it, but just figured they'd grab it out of my yard....

Brushed Archie today and figured the birds would talk what they needed off the ground. Going to use the bird feeder idea now.

You should see the birds flock around when I groom my rabbits. They love the wool of my lion heads. After a good grooming, yard does look like a bunny exploded, but a few days later, you should see all the fur in all the trees and bushes. Always groomed Jake outside, but birds in our area have found the bunny wool much better, lol.

The chipping sparrow lines the inside of its' nest with hair. It is amazing to see one up close. One of the reasons I started birding was after finding a nest in my hanging plant.
