Is something wrong we cannot tell.

Last weekend we boarded in the usual place. Usually it is only one night. This time was her first 2 nighter. She also goes there for day care once a week.

So since her return..She acted fear full of foods . Then she was crazy. Now she has calmed down. Does our usual couple of miles of walking , dog parks etc .
Yet her eat is really off. She does not eat instantly when we drop the bowl.

I have a vet appt today . Any thing I can ask other than describe the symptoms.

I always felt she will go to once a day feeding for some reason.

    Thanks
    Satz

Hi, Could you remind us how old she is and how much she is eating each day? Does she eat dry dog food or something else? It can be hard to pinpoint what is going on and being at the kennel where she has gone before and goes weekly for day care may just be coincidental. I can't think of anything else to ask except whether at her age she is in a particular fear stage of development that might be contributing to what you're seeing. Maybe she's getting to the age where she doesn't need as much food as she has been getting. Hard to know from our online vantage point.

I feed dry food twice a day mixed with canned or fresh food at dinner time. When they were younger I fed them much more than I do now, they were up to 3-4 cups per day, but even after I cut back, I still divide the daily amount into 2 feedings. I get the impression that those who feed raw usually feed one meal a day, those feeding dry food often stick to 2. And there are some dogs that aren't big chowhounds but if this is a change for her, I'd want to know what caused the change also.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

    turning one in 8 days
twice a day 2 cups a day as per bag for 75 lb dog. Pro Plan Chicken and Rice. Last time we used Lamb and rice and she threw up couple of times coming off her puppy food. so i got chicken. she was normal with it for 2 weeks before this
    stool is normal.

we do have family staying over with kids and house is a nut house so i cannot tell if the kids are feeding her. we are sure not but we cannot tell as one of the 13 yr old who claims to be a dog lover and trys to hug and cuddle with gigi. she freaks out. i am not sure if he is feeding her. He has some mental issues too so I cannot judge what he says .

I would not let any child hug a dog.

Edited to add: obviously I hope nothing's wrong; it's just that hugging a dog is never a good idea, and especially if the dog is acting fearful or off in any way.

Gigi could be afraid. If you still have her crate available, give her access to it. Try even feeding her in there. DON'T let any of the children near the crate. Put the crate in a quiet place. I would work with her and her crate.

They left at 3. The vet took her temp ,did a belley check and checked a few things . She said she looks good.
We came home and she wanted play fetch for 20 minutes . After that she ate her food and seems more normal.

Do having other people change dog behaviour.

She does sleep in the crate all night . The crate is in our bedroom but I thinking her food bowl was in the living room on second thought I will move it next time.

The first time I boarded Sophie and Bruce for over a week, Sophie decided it would be ok to poo in the house for the first 3 days we were home. She hadn't messed in the house for almost 2 years before this. I think it was her way to say she didn't like being boarded that long.

I'm glad the vet didn't find anything amiss. It's possible that the extra people, extra commotion and extra (?unwanted) attention she was getting made her act differently. Now that they're gone you should be able to see if she's totally back to normal. Plus, you'll know that the next time they visit, she may need an opportunity to get away from the activity occasionally to feel safe and get some peace and quiet.

Today morning she let me sleep in till 7 . Even then I took her out and went back to bed and did not cause any commotion and slept at my feet till 8.
She did not eat again..We went for a 3 mile walk and she came back and eat like a lab.

She is 1 yr old on a few days maybe she is maturing. Unlike most dogs she does not mature gradually. It's always been a big change and suddenly.
