LOL today we met Reba after a while of not seeing her. Reba took a long time to warm up to me but now comes over to me, all wiggles and smiles, looking for conversation and pets. Reba is a very small Cocker Spaniel and she's had cruciate surgery and is, I think, now 13. She has to be careful of the big dogs but she likes Oban. She liked him for months and months before she paid any attention to me.
My neighbour's rescue Basset Hound, Sadie, was the same, warmed up to Oban pretty quickly but took a year to let me near enough to pet her.
Two of the cats who showed up outside were the same, bonded to a dog, then to me.
With Oban it's a bit funny because he's a big blunderbuss and steps on the cats, knocks the dogs flying and we did supervise carefully when Reba was first recovering.
Do you know any other people's dogs who are like this with you? They liked your dog before they accepted you?

Luna at first wanted only to play with the dogs and would stand and bark at me. She still does that with people she has not seen before. Now she is really friendly with me in fact at 3:00 this morning I had to get up and let her in. Don't know whether she just wanted out at that time to come for a visit or if they put her out and forgot her. Have done that myself
