    A Black Lab

Was driving past this house in my neighborhood today and saw this beautiful black lab just lying on his front step at the door. I saw him once before too on a chilly rainy-ish day standing there waiting to be let in. He obviously must knows not to go in the road or else I wouldn't have seen him again... Its a residential street but busy ish as its the way to the park. No leash no flags to indicate an invisible fence...sweet boy though just knows where he belongs. I hope they always open the door for him....

My old guy wants to lay out in the sun right now. He just lays there until he is ready to come in and then everyone in the house jumps to attention to go out and bring him in.
A few years ago when new neighbours moved in my sister and I were driving by their house and there was a chocolate lab laying on their front step.My comment was "I didn't know Angela had a choc lab", on taking another look it was our old chocolate girl enjoying the sunshine of the stoop. She cam home when she recognized the truck.

Once they know the fence line you can take down the flags. We have a little sign on our mailbox post that says there's an invisible fence but it's mainly hidden by a bush. I hope that's his home! Anna, I love the story about your pup taking advantage of a fine sunning spot on a neighbor's porch. That's sweet.

I worry about the GR next door. He never barks, stays in his own yard without fence of any kind on three sides. He is an intact male too. Their house is on a corner of two roads. People walk their dogs by on both roads, he still doesn't bark or stray. He is put outside by himself to bathroom, not ever for very long, but....I worry because old dogs can do funny things they never did before. They can stray and wander like we do as old people. They can forget what a road is.

I worry too, I just don't like to see them alone....but I realize that some just like to lay in the sunshine (cute story above).
I know Dakota likes to lay in a common area so she can watch everyone, inside that is...

Both my girls love to lay in the sun but they are in a fenced in yard. I too would worry about them just wondering off, after all the shelters are full of dogs picked up as strays all the time.
