The litter was around 3 weeks old when Anne told me one would be mine. I can't tell you how happy I was. Even before I lost Bruce, I kept thinking if I ever got another puppy, I definitely think about one from Windycanyon. I can remember seeing the pics of her girls, and seeing their accomplishments, and just felt she breeds the type of dogs that I really like. Look like Labs, work like Labs! I actually booked the flight to Seattle within minutes of her giving me the ok. Anne and I exchanged multiple emails, and she called me when the pups were 7 weeks old. I think we talked for almost an hour, and I felt like I was talking with someone I've known for years. We discussed all the particulars, and we both decided Brooks would be the best puppy for me.

All I can say is a very heartfelt and sincere thank you to Anne. I know how particular she is about where here puppies go, and for her to put her faith and trust in me was very humbling. I sure she felt some trepidation as Brooks and I drove away from her home, thinking to herself I hope this puppy is getting a great home, as we were going so far away. Anne, I hope I've met your expectations for the first year, and I'll do my best for this boy, just like I promised.
Yes, Duke was Green and Remi was Blue. Both seemed to be a little more independent than what you wanted but Brooks was always folllowing me around w/ tail wagging....

Now Now.... that kind of language needs to be reserved for the breeder. Afterall, everyone at the hunt test today wanted to steal my little PITA! LOL. And I let them, for awhile anyhow....

Happy 1st birthday, Brooks! This last few months has flown by, huh? My youngster is 3 weeks older than Brooks, and I can't believe either of them is already one. I was back east for my guy's birthday -- the first time I have ever missed any of my dogs' birthdays (*sniffle*), but I got this fun photo from him while I was gone (his bday was the day before Easter this year). His babysitter posed him with her dog, and I guess the little stinker kept trying to pull off his pal's rabbit ears and run around the yard with them. That's a one-year old Labrador boy for ya!

Wow... what a story, Barry. You're giving Brooks such a rich life, it will pay off handsomely for both of you.

Happy Birthday you sweet boy. Brooks, don't let your dad call all those names-we all know you have to be the best dog around!

Also, I think you need a BIG tractor now and maybe you can ride on it.
