    Less affectionate at 2+1/2

I've had Sunny for 8 months & she is the easiest dog I've ever had. I adore her. We are together most of the time because I take her to work. I do notice she is not as cuddly as before. Is this normal? She used to always be on the couch with me & on the bed. Now she always goes to her bed or crate for sleeping.
she still goes nuts when I come home, she even gets a bit jealous sometimes around other dogs. She is obedient & so sweet. Just wondering ( I almost feel a bit silly asking this)

You haven't had her for a summer yet correct? Her bed or crate may be cooler. Or she is so comfortable around you she doesn't need to sleep so close to you. It doesn't mean she loves you any less

She might be too warm. My cat skips any cuddling if it's over a certain temperature and the dogs spend more time on the hardwood and tile than in my lap (thank goodness!).

It's been nasty here, too, but the temps have definitely increased with the longer days.

At some point, our Fran just bails on the couch after sleeping on top of my husband. Not to worry. Winter will come again . . .

I agree that she's just gotten more comfortable with you...doesn't need the constant reassurance. (She's also just past the point where I've found some behaviours/characteristics can change. E.g., if a dog is going to become reactive, it's around the age of two. I've found that females tend to be less affectionate than males in general...perhaps that occurs around a certain age, too...and I've just never really noticed with mine.)

Yeah yearly cycle. Winter, Hemi can not be close enough to me, especially at night. Summer, he starts out that way but soon gets down and sleeps in his bed or on the floor. I have a basement so the floor is cooler.

Girls can be more stand-offish too.

The cat in my siggy pic is like this too. He's been coming inside since last August and at first was quite clingy, cozy and affectionate. Now he seeks me out less but still likes a cuddle now and then. I think the same thing is happening with him as others said above. A. he is more confident in the house (no longer acts like TV people are strangers in the house) and doesn't need me for reassurance as much, and B. it's too darn hot to cuddle. +31 C here yesterday and that's not counting humidex. I've only ever had one cat that could take the heat.
