Oh, so sorry! Sending tons of lab board mojo and prayers. Will be looking for an update when you know more.
Thank you all for your support and mojo!
Nikki is home for the moment. The diagnosis was pancreatitis but they don't know what caused it and it was relatively asymptomatic. She only threw up once. The vet was OK with sending her home once she ate. And she did put down about 1 1/4 lbs of pork loin when we showed up this evening. She ate more when we got home.
The confusing thing is that the ultrasound showed a softball sized mass in her mid abdomen which doesn't seem to be attached to a particular organ. It could be coming out of her abdomen wall and looks like it's been around for a while. There were also swollen lymph nodes from her pancreas which makes sense given the pancreatitis and her liver was a normal size which apparently isn't common in an older dog.
Original post:
I am back to ask for your best thoughts on this one.
Nikki threw up at about 10 this morning. Everything from dinner and breakfast. She was quiet afterward and went into the bathtub which she hangs out in quite a bit, especially when she's having incontinence issues. Went to take a shower and noticed she had leaked urine that was very yellow and thick. Our regular vet couldn't take her so we took her into emergency. We were there for five hours because there were higher priorities and three other animals passed during that time. They did blood work and took urine and did x-rays then gave her back and I put her in the car where my husband was sleeping. She was fine and I kicked myself for panicking. Got into the car just fine after trotting around the car. Then we waited and waited for discharge and finally the vet took me into a room.
Nikki's liver and pancreas values were off the charts. The vet wanted her overnight and by that I mean right then and she can get an ultrasound tomorrow. The weird thing is that her kidney values were fine. So she's hooked up to all the lines and getting all the meds and we are basket cases.
Whatever happened happened fast. Everything points to pancreatitis but for the fact that she's acting fine and only vomited once. Even the vet was really thrown.
This is just crazy stuff. Please, please. All good thoughts.
