My Dog was attacked pt. 2 please help (with pictures)

Can you tell me if this looks like it is healing right? It's on his right shoulder.

He is acting like himself being playful and playing outside. He doesn't appear to be in pain or to be to bothered by it either. I must say though overall is usually is a happy go lucky kind of puppy.

    My original post:
My lab was attacked by a pitbull. It was the scariest thing I've ever seen or been involved with. My poor baby is the gentlest and least aggressive dog. He loves other dogs and people and now I'm scared he's going to change. The poor thing was on is leash on his property in my control. The pitbull spotted him and just attacked him. No warning or anything and even brought his owner to the ground. He wouldn't let go of my baby. He locked on him. It took 5 guys to get him to release and then my baby ran off into the woods.
We took him to get care and he's on a couple different meds and needs rest and love. And of course attention to his wounds. I feel so horrible for him it's killing me. I keep replaying it in my head and can't sleep. I keep snuggling with him and he's just so defeated. I just don't know what to do. I'm afraid his sweet gentle nature will change too. I don't want him to be scared of other dogs. It's just the worst feeling to feel so helpless and not be able to make him feel better.
I really need a place to talk to others and well wishes please. I'm just so lost and don't know how to make him feel at peace. And for me one of the worst parts is that the other dog is allowed to stay at our camp (we own a piece of land in a campground).
The whole thing is just horrible. If there anything else I can do to help him feel more comfortable? And would I be a horrible person for asking that the other dog be removed from the campground? I was told this is the second dog he did this to.

You know, not to worry you, but I don't like the looks of that, & if it was me, I'd be taking him back to the vet just to be sure....I'd even take that nice photo diary you've got going there to show the vet......I can't tell from the picture what part of his body he was bitten on......Are the people who own the pitbull helping you with the vet bills? If not, they certainly should be, and I think I would show them the pictures as well. I usually avoid confrontation if possible, but when someone has a dog like that, they need to know what that dog is capable of. They should probably make sure they have plenty of liability insurance, because most people probably aren't as nice as you.......I hope your pup is going to be o.k! Please keep us posted!

I think that needs to be drained. It can't hurt to do a follow up at this point regardless. I agree about the photo diary.

Where is that bite, what part of his body? I know in a previous post you said your vet said the wound looked good but he/she would still be the best person to offer an opinion on it now. I can understand why you're uncertain about its healing. If it's hot to touch or there's drainage coming from any puncture wound or if he has a fever or if you're just not sure, I'd ask the vet to check it again, even if it was just checked a couple of days ago. That does look like a nasty wound. I'm sorry things are still so rough.

And you're not a horrible person if you ask that the dog not be allowed back to the campground. Show those photos to the campground manager/owner or anyone else who pushes back on that request.

I hope you both continue to improve, it can take time. We do want to see you both get back in the game.

Its on his right shoulder. And I expect the people to pay every vet bill that we receive as a result of the bite. I feel so horrible for my poor puppy. Its heartbreaking and then so infuriating.

I agree with the others. I'd take him back to the vet with the photo diary just to be sure.

Another agreement here for both the picture diary and the trip to the vet. Good thoughts headed your way!

I've had very detailed home care instructions and follow up appointments with wounds less severe than that. Warm compresses I applied to keep swelling down, though not for all of them. A t-shirt over top, maybe, to keep the area clean. Think I'd like a recheck on that too. Poor Riley, poor boy.

Another in agreement for a return vet appointment. At the very least it will give you piece of mind. If there is a problem, catching it early is very important.

    Sending more healing mojo.

My Dog was attacked pt. 2 please help (with pictures)

Thank you. I think we'll be going to the vet. I called them and they said he was supposed to get a rabies booster. He just had his initial shot not even a month ago and the other dog was up to date on shots. Why would we give him another one? The 24 hour care hospital we went to didn't give him one.
It seems like they are way more concerned about a rabies booster than the bite itself.
