We were driving in our neighborhood and saw a dog in the street

I recognized him and he was in front of his house. There were cars in the driveway and the front door was wide open. So we pulled over, and my kids got out of the car. One stayed with him (elderly bulldog - very sweet guy) and the other went up to the house to find the owner. She rang the bell and called inside but there was no answer. Meanwhile my other daughter managed to get the dog to follow her up to the house, so they put him inside and shut the front door. When they came back to the car, I said to my daughter half-jokingly ... Gee, I hope there wasn’t a crime scene in there (picturing the owners laying in a pool of blood). She laughed and said that she didn’t see any signs of violence, but that the place REEKED of weed. Just then a teenage boy came out of the house and got in one of the cars. Probably went to his car, forgot something so went back to the house, leaving the door open and had no idea his dog had been wandering. Thankfully we don’t live in a high-traffic area, but still ....

I wonder if the dog was extra "chill" due to the 2nd hand smoke??? Like English Bulldogs need any more, lol.

My neighbours right now. Sparky was out on the road chasing cars twice one day this past week. They were oblivious till I told them. They were home.

Local news via FB and TV tells us dogs being poisoned from ingesting narcotics at a dog park and other dog walking places is on the upswing this year. I wonder how many are poisoned in their own homes.

I would have waited until the parents came home and take a bag of treats for their dog. Of course I would tell them after the smell coming from the house their dog was out in the middle of the street looking for something to snack on.
