    A Sad Passing

Many of us know Joe Marengo of SPARRO rescue, Plum, PA. Joe lost his long time travel buddy, Sam. Sam went everywhere with Joe as he traveled extensively to rescue dogs. There was no drive too long or season too cold or hot that deterred Joe and Sammy from saving lives. Joe, and his wife, are devastated.

On one of their last trips, Joe rescued a Mom and a little yellow, retriever type, pup who were in Texas. He soon became known as Big Tex. Just a few days ago Joe announced that Big Tex had found a permanent home, right with Joe. I'm sure Sammy had a paw in that rescue.

In all the years, all the travels which knew no bounds, Sammy shared his love and in turn received the adoration and love from countless people across this country. Very recently, SPARRO held a large fund raiser and Sammy and his mini-me, Big Tex, were the hit of the events. Folks from far and wide in the US and Canada attended. Joe is one of the champions, no super champions of dog rescue.

Please keep him and his family in your prayers as he goes through this devastating time.

Oh so sorry to hear of Sammy going to The Bridge. What an amazing person Joe Marengo is. His 'co-driver' Sammy had to be just as amazing.

Rest gently and run free sweet Sammy.

Andrew and I attended the fundraiser Friday night and the labfest on Saturday. We had the good fortune of meeting Sammy, one last time. He joined us for a bit, enjoyed some cuddles and maybe (I'm not sure!) a little bit of cake. Sammy, was truly an ambassador for SPARRO, and labs in general. He will be missed. Our condolences to Barb and Joe.

Sending along hugs and prayers for Joe and his wife--I'm sure they are broken hearted. I'm glad a new pup has found his way into their loving hearts & home......he will be a lucky pup, indeed....Run with the wind, Sammy!

Joe is a truly remarkable person and it's an honour to consider him a friend. Sammy was and will always be a sweet boy, a great ambassador for his kind.
