They think one of the dogs managed to escape. They now have the police and police helicopters looking for this dog. They say they can't be 100% sure if he escaped or not, but they are looking.

It does happen and that many dogs can die.

Some of the "oldies" here will remember this story.

My girlfriend had two dogs. She had to go on a business trip, and normally I would watch Sierra, her second dog was a new dog to her. She boarded them at Partners here in the Phx area. One night there was a freak storm, the lightening blew out the ventilation. There were 20 some dogs in that particular kennel and all but two died. There was an investigation by Sheriff Joe and they found it was not negligence.

It's a horrible thing to happen, but it does and sometimes it really is some freak thing. The people who lived on the premises did not hear anything.

ETA: I am not bashing Parners, as a matter of fact I had them do some training with Jake after this happened. DLRR uses them for training as well.

Disgusting, how horrible! This is why we will only board with our vet if we must. We know her, have a very trusting relationship, and she is friends with people we know (our next door neighbor and our neighbor down the street). We just boarded last week, and Guinness got sick while we were away and they noticed it right away and were able to start treatment immediately (UTI). She was well on the mend by the time we picked her up, and we know she loves going there for visits and boarding. This last time, she went back to get extra snuggles and cookies before we left.

I couldn't imagine coming home from vacation to find our family member had perished when we trusted someone to care for her.
