Crap #1: Bill moved out the old range to get ready for the new one. Talk about a litter of puppies, that's what it looked like under there. Washed walls, floor, waxed cabinet sides.
Crap #2: Moving some hostas and twisted my back. Had to get Bill to help me finish the one spot being worked on.
Crap #3: Teeny, tiny little black ants (only a few) coming up behind the kitchen counter back splash. What the heck to do? Looked on line - someone suggested straight white vinegar sprayed on the area. Painted on instead so as not to get on the woodwork. So far, so good.
AND, oh yes, CRAP #4: Working in the yard, Archie noses under some hostas beside the garden shed and I start smelling skunk! He had nosed there earlier but I thought it was chipmunks. He's rubbing his face in the grass - UGH! Smelled him good and could not detect any smell but he still got a front end bath. Cannot give him an entire bath because he still has staples right behind front leg from the small lump removal. Doused him with HP/baking soda/Dawn mixture, waited and rinsed off. He's odor free but now I have to go out with him to keep him away from the shed. Means the fence battlements have been breached. Wildlife trapping service called.
I need a nap!

Oh gee whiz. Hope your back is ok, the rest sound relatively minor to me. Backs can really put you out of commission and I know you'll want to do lots more with it.

YIKES!!! Let's hope it all gets better from here!
I hope your back is feeling ok. Please take good care of yourself. That was a lot to deal with.
That's too much for me in one day!

I hope your back is feeling better! I've used that liquid Terro for little ants. I think it is a solution containing Borax, which Anne mentions above. I've found it very effective and I put it up where I see the ants, not where the dogs can get to it. They come and eat it and go away to die. It can be unnerving how many ants show up to consume it.
From the Terro website:
Q: What can you tell me about the active ingredient Borax to kill ants?
A: People are often surprised to learn that borax, a natural mineral found in many common household products such as hand soaps and toothpastes, is also the active ingredient found in TERRO®liquid and granular ant baits.
Borax has a low toxicity for people and animals, but ants are another story. When ants consume the borax bait, it interferes with their digestive system and gradually kills them. This slow kill allows time for the worker ants to consume the bait and head back to the nest to share with the rest of the colony and queen.
Was afraid to try Borax being right on the backsplash, so close to food and prep. Guess if I was careful. Maybe the Terro would be a better idea.
Back is still twinging a little today so I left the gardens alone even though there is so much to do.
Thanks for all the good thoughts.
