Burton's Birthday!

I'm late posting here, Burton's birthday was 20 June. We've been busy celebrating


The time seemed to move so slowly at first, but flew by when spring approached. We started ordering things on amazon, got a crate right away, got in touch with the puppy socialization trainer, told our vet we'd be in with a new pup soon. Hubby got to meet the puppies at 5 weeks and called me to give me a run down of each and every one. We were fortunate to go again at 7 weeks so that I could meet the babies, too. Each pup would just melt in our arms. None of them were wiggly or chewing on our fingers. Just sweet and docile, like something out of a commercial. Hubby is handed 'Caboose" and immediately this puppy recognizes him from the two weeks prior. His little tail starts to wag fast back and forth and he licks my husband's neck. I mean, if you want to witness love, that was a moment of pure absolute love. We both knew as hard as I might try this puppy is going to be Daddy's baby boy. And he is. He loves his mom, but he cries for his dad. Of course Charlie is still his ultimate favorite, though.


In the past year, we have traveled across the country, the cat has decided she actually kind of likes Burton, and we watched our little pup grow into a wonderful young lab. Burton was an absolute rock star in his puppy classes, winning every challenge every week. He took home third in his basic obedience class (in which he was the youngest in class! in some cases by quite a few years). He knew how to swim as soon as his feet hit the water. He has yet to destroy anything in our house, counter surf, or use any human body parts as his personal chew toys. I honestly could not ask for a better puppy.


Unfortunately, our Birthday plans for B fell through (he was meant to go to a ball game) so we will rain check on that, but he had a fun day overall. We took him to the beach, then fetch and general running amuck in a field. And he got a fancy new collar.
