    Conversations with your dog.

Humans and dogs to have CONVERSATIONS within a decade as technology developed | Science | News | Express.co.uk

I think, if you know your dog and are a good observer, you'll understand what they're trying to tell you. Mine pretty much paint a picture for me.

    Run to owner.
Bounce up and down acting excited.
    Owner stands up.
Bounce up and down until she begins to follow.
Run to dinner dish... bounce up and down.
Run back to stupid owner who isn't moving in the right direction, bounce up and down.
Run to dinner dish, bounce up and down
Run to owner, bounce up and down. When she looks at you, run to dinner dish and bounce up and down.
    Etc.

Milo has named me Woooof Woof. I have learned to respond to that the same as when people say my human name. He will look at me, then look at what he wants or where he wants me to go and then look back at me. He can actually communicate with me pretty easily.

It would be interesting to store snacks, kibble, and toys in three separate locations. I'd understand better why he wants me to follow him.

Whining and heavy sighing outside of bathroom = "omg hurry up lets go on walkies!"
Whining and heavy sighing outside of my office door = "omg hurry up lets go on walkies!"
Whining and heavy sighing next to my desk = "omg hurry up lets go on walkies!"
Whining from 3:30 pm - 5 pm = "is it dinner time yet? How about now? What about now? Are you sure? It has to be now."
Whining in the car = "are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"

    Thor has an amazing vocabulary.

Hemi actually has quite a repertoire with me that I have come to learn to understand. I really enjoy it when he does talk to me. When it is supper time he will come up to me and lick and smack his lips and stare at me. Which I will say what is it you want, he will lick and smack his lips again. If I tell him its not time yet, he will go lay back down or do something else usually after giving me a heavy sigh or harumph. If I say "Oh really that's what you want" then happy supper is coming dance starts.

It all starts with a stare though once he realizes I am looking at him then the conversation begins. Its just up to me to listen.

Only one thing he is kind of pushy on, when he wants to sit in dads lap. I sit down in my favorite chair he brings me a toy and sets it in my lap, then puts his head on my leg waiting for me to respond. I am not sure why I get the toy he doesn't want it when he gets up there, maybe a here I brought you this toy can I please sit with you.

Cassie isn't nearly as subtle in her communications at dinner time ... She will stand in her dog bowl and ring it by scratching quickly with her paws so that it sounds like a dinner bell. Don't get up fast enough, she grabs the edge of the bowl with her front paws and fires it between her back legs down the hallway. Can you hear me now?

OMG... it's hysterical when you have a dog that has learned to play hockey with their diinner dishes! I have one like that.

    Love these!

Archie is the hardest. He's not nearly as expressive as the labs. He is more vocal in play, not with barks but all kinds of whistles and boy can he whistle. There's also a whine, not a hurt whine, a pay attention to me whine. I'm learning.

Kanzi has forever played the "bat race" game w/ dishes while cleaning them, only instead of holding them down w/ her nose and circling, she puts one foot in it and circles to make sure she gets every bit of the bowls cleaned.

And I'm not sure I want much more conversation w/ mine... I know EXACTLY what they are saying at 5am (we see LIGHT, time to roll out of bed and feed us mom!), 615 am (the neighbor is walking the *sshole dog by, must be bigger *ssholes and tease him cuz he's on leash-- finally), and 7am (The other neighbor is leaving for work, must wish him a good day!). At that, I give up and decide it's time to move irrigation lines w/ the brats....
