When our girl lost a battle with a Porky and had 212 quills in her our Vet said we were lucky it was a big Porky as the quills were big and easier to find. AND he said a skunk in some ways would have been worse, if she'd actually been bitten, as they are a "hot" carrier of rabies here and Whisper would have had to be quarantined for 14 days. I think even if not bitten but the encounter was at close quarters.

We have porcupines up at dog scout camp. I have never seen them as they are pretty rare in Michigan but have seen evidence of them. The Camp director that lives up there has seen them.
aww poor baby that had to be painful for her. I hope Zo has made a full recovery and that she got ice cream for not crying to much when they pulled them out
