I m so sorry you had to go through that with a vet. I agree with everyone else I would look for a new vet.Or the other option is to walk out of her office till she can perform her duty to you as her client, I also have never heard of a vet who charges by time spent.

The holistic vet we used to use charged by the appointment. Acupuncture was extra. (I don't think he did chiropractic.) The herbal mixing, etc., was part of the cost of the appointment...or part of the "prescription" cost. He was expensive but seemed to be worth it. You couldn't talk to him without an appointment...he charged phone fees. But once you paid for an appointment, you got him for whatever amount of time it took. All things considered, I'm sure he wasn't losing money...but I didn't have to worry about side-issue time spent, either.
To me, your vet is taking advantage of you. Deliberately padding the appointment? She has to know that she's taking things far longer than necessary for what you want or need. Like the cab drivers that drive around the block a few times to extend your journey...
