yes it could be related to the leash. just like some dogs are fine with dogs off leash but reactive on leash. Leash corrections can also play a part in it (tighten leash, leash pops as you worry about people walking by/near)

We picked up Gigi today. When the sitter opened rhe door after me knocking on the door she came out in full aggression till I said Gigi... I think I plan to start training.
Sadly the sitter said she will not be able to take her ... Sad as I thought we found a great match
The sitter took her to the dog park today and she is fine off leash playing and friendly.
Going to do a vet appointment and then talk to the trainer she has had from 12 weeks.

So Gigi is how old now? Have you had her eyes and hearing checked? Have you spoken to her breeder about the parents/ lineage? Would be nice to know if this is genetic, health or training related.

I cant say anything to make better, but this cant be the 1st time this has happened? dogs dont just bite peeps...shoot half my city is pitbulls and chiohaua's and nearly zero get bit....a lab biting is almost unheard of in my neck of woods.
One thing to keep in mind is she isn't thinking and leashing out. In order to fix this you need to change the automatic reaction. it's not training it is behaviour modification.
To be honest, taking her to the dog park may be riskier than it's worth. I'd highly consider muzzle training her. I know it hasn't been an issue til now but you know there ARE issues, why push it? Eventually if she bites the wrong person they'll report her and she may suffer some consequences.I
When you see the vet, explain the issues and that you want to ensure there is no health issue behind it. Eyes, hearing, thyroid (yes I would a blood panel).
It is great to check in with your trainer but I highly recommend finding a behaviorist. Not all trainers are good at behavior modification. Someone with education and experience. It will be a slow process but you can get great improvement if you work it. And anyone who talks about using corrections when the dog is fearful should be avoided. It just reinforces the fear and can lead to masking early signals and skiping one day to a bite.

You won't want to hear this but when a long time boarder at the kennels we use suddenly turned on several people the owner's had him euthanized and asked for a necropsy and a brain tumour was found. The poor dog had probably been in terrible pain not to mention other changes a brain tumour can make. The dog was older. I'm only mentionning because health can make huge differences in a dog's (person, cat, horse) behaviour. Even a much less serious thing like hypothyroidism can change a creature's behaviour, but that at least is much more easily remedied. Good luck with the Vet.
